Leicester-based multi-instrumentalist Richard Allsopp, known for his work with melodic death metal group Monachopsis and live performances with Final Coil, has announced the second full-length album from his long-running solo project, A Distorted Utopia. Titled An Heir To All The Ills Of Flesh, the record serves as the project’s first LP since 2016’s Sleepless Walks.

The release opens with lead track Presence, an arrangement incorporating irregular tempo changes, jarring riff patterns, and sci-fi horror themes. Across the remaining material, the compositions combine angular guitar solos, complex rhythmic shifts, and atmospheric layering to explore subject matter centered around personal mental health struggles and societal decline.

Production duties for the release were completed by engineer Mikolaj at Thamnos Records, who handled both the mixing and mastering processes. Visual presentation for the physical and digital packaging features cover illustration by artist Rotten at Cutting Edge Metal.

An Heir To All The Ills Of Flesh arrives on October 23rd, 2026.
