Finnish Symphonic Death Metal outfit Malummeh have dropped their second single, Gone Too Far, complete with a new music video, ahead of their upcoming self-titled EP due May 28th, via Inverse Records.
The track arrives as the band continue their return after a long hiatus, and it pulls no punches in subject matter or sound. According to the band, Gone Too Far tackles themes of betrayal, oppression, and naivety, channeling frustration and emotional overload into something raw and unfiltered.
Interestingly, the song itself has deep roots, with its original concept dating back over 15 years. Initially left unreleased, it has since been completely reworked and rebuilt for this new era, emerging in a far more developed form. The band also note that it marks a new sonic step forward, incorporating symphonic instrumentation for the first time in their catalogue.
The result is described as a dramatic and volatile piece, balancing tension and escalation while leaning into a sense of melancholy and finality that pushes the depth of the track to the surface rather than burying it beneath technicality.
In their current form, Malummeh aim to combine the strongest elements of early 2000s Metal with a more refined and less rigid creative mindset. Operating with full artistic independence, handling composition, recording, and production themselves, the band have returned with a clearer sense of direction, balancing technical musicianship with emotional range.
The comeback isnโt framed as nostalgia, but as progression. With Gone Too Far and the forthcoming EP, Malummeh are continuing their story with a sharper identity, stronger cohesion, and a renewed sense of purpose behind the music.
