Northern Irish death metal project Corpse Water, spearheaded by Strangle Wire guitarist Pete Clarke, is securing a broader CD release for its debut full-length, …Something In The Water. Originally issued earlier this year in a limited vinyl pressing through Grindscene Records, the album now moves to Spanish underground label Memento Mori for global compact disc distribution.
Formed as a vehicle for straightforward, old-school death metal, the project explicitly abandons technical display in favor of mid-tempo grooves, hook-driven riffing, and primitive structures. The songwriting draws heavily from early ’90s genre staples like Cannibal Corpse, Six Feet Under, Obituary, and Cancer, focusing on direct, accessible arrangements over complex time signatures.

Written, recorded, and arranged by Clarke as a primary creative outlet, the record serves as a nostalgia-driven tribute to classic death metal mechanics. The transition from a small DIY vinyl press to a dedicated CD imprint comes in response to unexpected underground interest following the initial limited run.
Memento Mori will officially drop the physical CD edition later this month, while Clarke begins preliminary work on a follow-up album.
…Something In The Water releases on CD October 26th.
