Swedish extreme metal pioneers Meshuggah have marked two major milestones with the release of Destroy Erase Improve: 30th Anniversary Edition and Catch Thirtythree: 20th Anniversary Edition, both available today through Reigning Phoenix Music.

The newly remastered editions are available on vinyl, CD digipak and digital formats, pairing refreshed audio with the original album artwork.

First released in 1995, Destroy Erase Improve reshaped the band’s sound and laid the groundwork for much of the technical and progressive metal that followed. Its tightly controlled rhythmic complexity, dissonant guitar work and flashes of jazz fusion helped establish a blueprint that continues to influence extreme metal, progressive metal and djent decades later.

Meshuggah took another bold step with 2005’s Catch Thirtythree, a 47-minute composition split across 13 interconnected movements. Built around hypnotic repetition, shifting rhythmic patterns and the crushing weight of eight-string guitars, the album remains one of the band’s most ambitious works. It also stands apart as the group’s only full-length to feature programmed drums, created using Toontrack’s Drumkit From Hell software.

Three decades after Destroy Erase Improve and two decades on from Catch Thirtythree, both albums remain essential listening for anyone interested in the evolution of progressive and extreme metal. These newly remastered editions give listeners another opportunity to experience two records that continue to cast a long shadow over modern heavy music.
