Czech progressive death metal outfit Mindwork have announced Adrift, their first proper full-length album since 2012’s Eterea. Formed in 2007, the band built a formidable reputation within the European progressive metal underground, earning two prestigious Czech Anděl Award nominations before stepping away, only to resurface in 2021 with their Cortex EP. This new release signals the official next chapter for the current lineup.

Conceived as a deeply psychological concept album about Alzheimer’s disease, the new record follows the terrifying, gradual erosion of memory, identity, and personal perception. Across nine distinct tracks, the band maps out this devastating mental decline by combining intense, technical death metal structures with stark, melancholic atmospheric passages. Adding a unique twist to the heavy tracklist, the song arrangements also feature an unexpected, heavy reinterpretation of Talk Talk’s classic The Party’s Over.

Throughout their career, Mindwork have been a prominent fixture on the live circuit, sharing stages with genre pioneers like Cynic, Nocturnus, and Suffocation, alongside making four separate appearances at the renowned Brutal Assault festival. Their earlier works, Into The Swirl and Eterea, garnered enough international attention to secure North American distribution through DiveBomb Records. With Adrift, the band returns to the global stage with their most mature and conceptually challenging material to date.
