Wormholedeath Records and Southern Soundclash Records have released Absolute Fucking Possession, a new split bringing together Brazilian black/death metal veterans Mystifier and Atlanta-based raw black metal project Hessian.

The interesting thing about this one is what both sides bring to the table. For the first time in their 37-year history, Mystifier have authorised the commercial release of official live audio, contributing an unedited 2026 live performance alongside instrumentation for Hessianโ€™s closing track.

Hessian is the solo project of multi-instrumentalist Laremy Wade (Utuk Xul), taking a much more stripped-back approach to black metal. Thereโ€™s no bass, with the music built around cold, hypnotic guitar repetition and deliberately minimal production.

Put the two together and youโ€™ve got a split coming from very different directions, but with both bands firmly rooted in the darker, more abrasive end of extreme metal.

Absolute Fucking Possession is out now digitally.
