Bubblegum alternative metal outfit Nova Riot have officially unveiled the music video for Midnight Coven Crush, a visually striking, risqué clip directed by frontwoman Nova Ray. Serving as the second of three planned music videos ahead of their debut full-length album, Blood, Lies & Lullabies, the track bridges the gap toward the main record, which is scheduled to drop on August 21st via Eclipse Records.

The song seamlessly merges crushing, heavy riffs with candy-coated aesthetics, using that exact sonic contrast to challenge societal stigmas and deliver a fierce message of autonomy. The storytelling behind the video takes a profound approach to bodily autonomy and systemic subversion, addressing the universal struggles women endure daily. Instead of submitting to established social hierarchies, the clip positions its characters as powerful agents of change, using carefully refined horror elements to complement, rather than distract from, the overarching message of empowerment.

The project was envisioned from the start as a crucial tool for connecting with an evolving audience. By anchoring the heavy track with an equally arresting visual, the band面 aimed to create something impossible to look away from, maximizing their impact in a crowded digital landscape.

“This video is about accepting your inner baddie while taking control of the narrative that surrounds the stigma of hierarchy, and how it relates to the typical worldview of women,” vocalist Nova Ray explains. “Midnight Coven Crush takes that power back by force! I think just about every woman has a personal story similar to what inspired this video… Something that unfortunately gets experienced all too often. But that is what makes us incredibly fortunate… we get to write the ending. That’s a powerful experience!”
