Norwegian death metal outfit Oskaal have released a lyric video for Refused, taken from their album (A)live, out now via Wormholedeath.
The track deals with violence, isolation and exploitation, focusing on the lasting damage caused by abuse and the alienation that follows. Musically, Oskaal pair technical death metal with a more measured, unsettling approach, letting the songโs shifting pace do the work rather than relying on constant aggression.
Frontman Ole Stensgรฅrd switches between deep gutturals and piercing shrieks, while the bandโs lyrics explore forgotten gods, spiritual decay and the thin line between madness and revelation. Thereโs also a streak of sardonic black humour running through their material, keeping things from becoming relentlessly grim.
