Norwegian extreme metal outfit Paradogmata return with their new EP Necrosian Tastings, out now as the next step towards the bandโs forthcoming full-length, Necrosian Litanies, which is currently scheduled for early 2027.
Formed in Trondheim in 2018, Paradogmata began life as a melodic thrash metal band before gradually weaving death metal, black metal and progressive influences into their songwriting. The arrival of guitarist รystein Granamo Iversen and drummer Kim Sรฆtre in 2025 marked the beginning of a new chapter, pushing the bandโs sound into heavier and more adventurous territory.

Following the release of Krรฅkevisa, Necrosian Tastings gathers two brand-new compositions alongside two contrasting reinterpretations of that track. The EP features Leave the Crippled Behind, Maladieu, Krรฅkevisa (Kneippversjon) and Krรฅkevisa (Folkesangversjon), while the CD edition also includes Krรฅkevisa (Blรธtkakeversjon) as an exclusive bonus track.
Leave the Crippled Behind draws on the bandโs melodic thrash and death metal roots before collapsing into a crushing doom-inspired midsection, with lyrics taking a satirical swipe at humanityโs self-serving nature and the consequences it breeds. Maladieu shifts towards a more melodic approach, built around soaring twin-guitar harmonies and a measured mid-tempo pace. Written in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic, its lyrics question who, or what, the real plague ultimately is.
The alternate versions of Krรฅkevisa explore two very different directions. Kneippversjon strips away the folk instrumentation in favour of a harsher Norwegian black metal approach, while Folkesangversjon embraces traditional arrangements built around Hardanger fiddle, violin and folk vocals. Ingvild โSareetaโ Strรธnen Johannesen features on Hardanger fiddle and violin across the folk recordings.
Drawing together melodic thrash, death metal, black metal, doom and traditional Norwegian folk influences, Necrosian Tastings highlights a band increasingly comfortable stretching its sound without losing sight of its identity. If the EP is any indication, Necrosian Litanies is shaping up to be Paradogmataโs most ambitious release to date.
