Lancaster, Pennsylvania-based experimental rock project Unteachers have announced their sophomore studio album, Under Bright Sadness, set for release on October 16th via Rottweiler Records. The album marks the band’s first full-length release since their 2014 debut, A Human Comedy.

Formed by multi-instrumentalist Stephen Mark Sarro following the end of his previous project, Tantrum Of The Muse, Unteachers features long-term drummer Wyse. The duo’s sound is rooted in a heavy blend of noise rock, sludge, and progressive metal.

Work on Under Bright Sadness originally began in 2021, with the five-year gap to completion driven by the day-to-day demands of family life. Lyrically and thematically, the record serves as a personal reflection on the members’ lives as fathers, husbands, and musicians.

The album tracking was handled entirely at the Sarro homestead on an isolated farm in Lancaster County. For the final production stage, the record was mastered by Cliffy Huntington at Steinhaus Mastering, known for his work with acts such as Dropkick Murphys and My Silent Wake.

Under Bright Sadness will be available on all major platforms on October 16th.
