Canadian progressive death metal outfit Altersoul have released a music video for Abandoned, the lead single from their debut EP, Origins. Formed from the ashes of longtime Ontario band Ominous Eclipse, the group represents a direct continuation of their shared history.

Founded by guitarists and vocalists James Close and Graham Murphy following the retirement of their previous moniker, the project honors the memory of founding bassist Ryan Clements, who passed away in August 2024. The new release features updated studio versions of foundational compositions written alongside original drummer Andrew Poskus over a decade ago.

Abandoned traces its roots back to an acoustic guitar composition written around 2009. The track pairs extreme metal aggression with real orchestral arrangements and cinematic passages to soundtrack a narrative set in a frozen wasteland.

Origins is available now, serving as a tribute to past collaborations and fallen friends, as well as the opening chapter for a substantial body of unreleased material.
