Long Islandโ€™s Heavy Metal mainstays Restless Spirit have officially dropped their self-titled full-length, a record that is already garnering high praise across the global metal press. The album has secured impressive accolades early on, including a #3 spot on the Metal.de soundcheck, an 8/10 from Belgiumโ€™s Rock Tribune, and a near-perfect 9/10 from AllFatherMetal.com.

This release marks a definitive moment for the trio, who have spent over a decade refining their craft. Frontman Paul Aloisio describes the album as the band’s most emotional and heaviest work to date, serving as a culmination of hard work and lessons learned from years on the road. The decision to leave the album self-titled reflects the band’s confidence; these eight tracks represent the most distilled and honest version of their sonic identity.

โ€‹Musically, Restless Spirit bridges the gap between the working-class Heavy Metal roots of Birmingham and a modern American sonic slang. Their sound seamlessly weaves together the grit of Stoner and Desert Metal with classic heavy solos and subtle progressive flourishes. While their 2024 predecessor, Afterimage, was a descent into despair driven by personal tragedy, Restless Spirit serves as its resilient companion piece. It focuses on the theme of perseverance, pushing through hardship and starting over when things are at their bleakest.โ€‹

The bond at the core of the band runs deep, as Aloisio and bassist Marc Morello have been friends since before kindergarten. Since their 2019 debut, the band has evolved from the Sludge and Doom moulds of their early work into a more complex, melodic, and sharpened force. By trimming away the sonic fat, the band has created a record that functions as a rescue rope for those facing life’s cruelties, encouraging listeners to live and persevere on their own terms.โ€‹

The arrival of the album comes just days before Restless Spirit embarks on a massive co-headlining US tour alongside Gozu. The trek is set to kick off at Alchemy in Providence, Rhode Island, on May 24th.
