Hailing from the industrial landscape of Kotka, Finnish Extreme Metal outfit Saasta has unleashed their latest full-length assault, a 12-track descent into darkness titled Cesspool. Released via Inverse Records, the album is an uncompromising exploration of filth and ferocity, described by the band not as a narrative of growth, but as a documentary of decay.

The record is conceptually split into two distinct movements: The Sanctum and The Abyss. This structure serves a grim purpose, with the first half carefully constructing a facade that the second half systematically obliterates. Musically, Cesspool is a volatile mix of intensity and unease, forged through the synergy of Leevi Kรคrsรคmรคโ€™s expansive vocal range, Topias Jokipiiโ€™s abrasive guitar work, Janne Hietanenโ€™s ominous bass lines, and Jimi Lahtinenโ€™s relentless drumming.โ€‹

To coincide with the album’s arrival, Saasta has released the final installment of a five-part visual series with the music video for The Plagued. This follows four previously released videos that set the stage for the album’s oppressive atmosphere.

Cesspool was captured at the band’s own studio in Kotka throughout 2025. For the final polish, the group reunited with Ben Jones, who handled mixing and mastering duties, reprising his role from the bandโ€™s 2023 EP, Black|Death|Doom. The result is an intense and often uncomfortable listen, with each track steadily adding to the albumโ€™s growing sense of tension until everything finally gives way under the sheer force of its sound and subject matter.

As the band puts it:

โ€œWhen everything is stripped away, all that remains is what can no longer be hidden.โ€
