U.S. black metal outfit Sev Lezu will release their debut album, Blood Conscript, on August 28 through Ordovician Records, with the record arriving on vinyl, cassette and digital formats.

Recorded at Artifact Audio by drummer, vocalist, lyricist and producer Sasha Stroud, Blood Conscript draws on dark, ancient mythology, a hateful pantheon and themes of bloody revenge. Stroud is joined by guitarist Melissa Moore and bassist FW, with Mia Priest contributing guest guitar and songwriting to Corpse Step.

Sev Lezu describe their sound as โ€œgrinding, melodic black deathโ€, combining old-school black metal influences with the rhythmic violence of grind and death metal. The bandโ€™s approach also incorporates elements of traditional heavy metal, creating a sound that draws from several corners of extreme music without settling neatly into one of them.

Formed in 2022, the NYC, Philadelphia and Pacific Northwest-based outfit have built Blood Conscript around a deliberately hostile vision of black metal, with the album intended as a concentrated introduction to the bandโ€™s sound.

As guitarist Melissa Moore puts it:

โ€œMe and the dolls made real black metal. The rest can fuck off and burn in hellfire.โ€
