As its 20th Anniversary celebrations continue, Severin Films has detailed its August slate, with three major releases spanning recent horror, Indonesian genre cinema and cult exploitation.
Leading the lineup is The Ugly Stepsister, writer-director Emilie Blichfeldtโs 2025 Oscar-nominated horror film, which receives its North American disc premiere through Severin. The release follows praise from Paste Magazine, which described it as a โjaw-dropping debutโ.

Also arriving is The Sacred & The Cursed: The Joko Anwar Collection, bringing together four films from the Indonesian horror director: Satanโs Slaves, Satanโs Slaves 2: Communion, Impetigore and the worldwide home video premiere of Dead Time. The four-disc collection features director-approved masters and more than 10 hours of special features.
Rounding out the August slate is Gwendoline, the final film from Emmanuelle director Just Jaeckin. First released by Severin in 2006, the film now receives its North American UHD premiere in a three-disc edition containing both European and US versions alongside more than six hours of special features.
Three very different releases, then, but exactly the sort of gloriously eclectic cult cinema Severin has built its reputation around.
