Finnish alternative sludge metal outfit Slürk have released their new single, I’ll Wait For You On The Ground. The track marks the second release of the year for the Kaustinen-based band, following their September single Wristcutter.
Formed in 2024 by musicians from the Kaustinen College of Music, the group blends elements of sludge, alt-groove, and metalcore, pulling influence from the heaviness of Crowbar and Gojira alongside the melodic sensibilities of Deftones.
Lyrically, I’ll Wait For You On The Ground dives into the dark dynamics of a destructive relationship, framing death as the ultimate point of connection for two people bound together by mutual pain. Speaking on the thematic weight of the track, the band shared:
“I’ll Wait For You On The Ground tells of a difficult and self-destroying relationship between two people. There is so much bottomless hatred and crushing pain between them that a life together feels impossible. In this situation, it feels as though the only way to release their pent-up emotions is through death. As the song’s title suggests, the one who dies first is left waiting for the other to arrive in the afterlife.”
Slürk are currently working on a new EP, titled A Line to Cross, which is scheduled for release in 2027.
I’ll Wait For You On The Ground is available now across digital platforms.
