Alright, be honest, who thought that the most horrific thing in The Death of Robin Hood would be Hugh Jackmanโs English accent?
Yeah, me as well.
However, it seems that we might have all been wrong, as the teaser trailer shows a much darker, much more violent take on the Outlaw Legend.
This is not the Robin Hood you grew up with. No cheeky grin, no jaunty lute music, no Errol Flynn, just a life of regret, violence, and the kind of atmosphere that promises more fog than a Goth festival.
Coming courtesy of A24, The Death of Robin Hood lands in cinemas June 19th, with Michael Sarnoski (the man behind Pig and A Quiet Place: Day One) writing and directing. And yes, Jackmanโs taking the title role, but this version of Robin isnโt robbing the rich so much as dealing with the bodies he left behind.
The story drops us in at the end of the road: Robin, battered and bleeding after one last scrap, is forced to confront the wreckage of a life built on crime and violence. Enter a mysterious woman offering something that might be salvation, or might just be another nail in the coffin.
Backing him up, or possibly circling like vultures, youโve got Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgรฅrd, Murray Bartlett, and Noah Jupe.
If the teaserโs anything to go by, this isnโt a swashbuckler, itโs a slow bleed. Less folklore, more funeral march. And honestly? It’s about time someone let Robin Hood get his hands properly dirty.
