Dutch heavy psych and stoner rock mainstays The Machine have broken a quiet stretch with the announcement of their long-awaited eighth studio album, Another Sun, scheduled to land on October 2, 2026. The release features a collaborative tag-team effort behind the scenes, with Blues Funeral Recordings handling North American and UK territories, while the band’s own Awe Records oversees the European release alongside Stickman Records. A debut single is slated to arrive in late July to offer a glimpse into this next phase.

For nearly two decades, the power trio consisting of David Eering, Chris Both, and Klaas Dijkstra has occupied a distinct corner of the European underground. Since making a definitive early splash with their now-cult-classic record Solar Corona, the group has consistently pushed beyond the rigid boundaries of stoner rock. Their sonic blueprint frequently drifts into expansive space rock, doom, progressive arrangements, and gritty ’90s alternative textures, avoiding the predictable formulas that often trap the genre.

Another Sun marks a notable shift in the band’s creative process, serving as the first full-length effort from this specific lineup and the first to be tracked entirely at Eering’s own Evolver Studio. The self-produced environment allowed the band to capture a looser, more organic performance that looks toward new horizons without losing the heavy, hypnotic groove that defined their earliest material.

“Another Sun is an important milestone to me personally, after a couple of years with reduced activity of the band,” Eering shares. “Without the intention to do so, I think we managed to honor a more old-school The Machine vibe while also stepping into the future. Can’t wait for this one to be released and to play shows in support of it.”
