Sleep deprivation, family drama, and a home-made concoction that shouldโ€™ve stayed buried, The Remedy unleashes pure evil in its brand new teaser trailer.

The film centres on Jason, played by Timothy Granaderos, a guy doing his best to hold things together while caring for his seriously ill mother, Maria. Problem is, holding things together gets tricky when you havenโ€™t slept in days and your brain starts screening its own horror festival at 3AM. Jasonโ€™s nightmares come fully loaded with a recurring highlight: something monstrous showing up to treat his mum like an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Naturally, things donโ€™t stay in dreamland. The line between whatโ€™s in Jasonโ€™s head and whatโ€™s actually happening starts to blur, and not in a fun, artsy way, more in a ‘maybe donโ€™t turn your back on the hallway’ way.

Enter Rachel, his estranged sister, played by London Thor, fresh out of psychiatric care and immediately clocking that something is very, very off in the house. While Jasonโ€™s still trying to rationalise things, Rachelโ€™s already gone full ‘we need to deal with this now’ mode, diving into spiritual practices that donโ€™t come with a user manual.

Desperate to help his mother, he turns to an obscure, ancient remedy, because in horror, thatโ€™s always a great idea and never the start of a disaster montage. Mariaโ€™s condition improves, which should be good news, except it comes bundled with a growing list of deeply wrong side effects. The house shifts. The atmosphere curdles. And suddenly getting better doesnโ€™t feel like a win anymore.

Backing up the chaos are Chris Mulkey, Doug Jones, and Jenny O’Hara, while director Alex Kahuam, working from a script by Daniel Kuhlman, leans into a mix of psychological pressure and supernatural escalation. Kahuam has described the film as a blend of mental strain and creeping dread, while Kuhlman points to its upcoming festival slot as a major milestone.

That slot lands at SXSW London, where The Remedy will make its world premiere on June 3rd, followed by an encore screening on June 6th. With Breakwall Pictures, Kahuam Films, and Sparta Productions behind it, and Film Seekers handling international sales, the film is stepping into the spotlight with a decent amount of momentum.

No clean answers, no safe ground, just a family, a house, and something thatโ€™s clearly decided that it’s moving in. Whether they want it too or not.
