Tommy Wiseau, a possessed lake, and a character stating: “This is some weird shit, Rick.” The trailer for Silt has landed, and this looks like some properly crazy-ass stuff.

Originally titled Lake Vernon, the film comes from director Aaron Jay Rome and writer/producer Isaiah LaBorde, adapting a concept created by former NFL star Vernon Davis and Tiffany Toney. Davis also produces and stars, alongside Malcolm Goodwin, David Anders, Olivia Grace Applegate, Andrea Sixtos and, because apparently this film wasn’t already strange enough, Tommy Wiseau.

Wiseau plays an eccentric local named Bartleby, who has some very unusual ideas about the lake sitting beside the remote retreat where much of the story takes place.

The film follows Hadria (Sixtos), who reluctantly joins a group of friends for a weekend at an exclusive lakeside property. The place is heavily gated, surrounded by hundreds of silent, staring deer, and sits beside a body of water with a rather disturbing local history.

Hadria initially isn’t particularly interested in Bartleby’s claims about the lake’s cosmic properties. Then the lake starts proving him right.

Silt looks like it’s taking the familiar cabin-in-the-woods setup and throwing something considerably stranger into it, with psychological horror, cosmic weirdness and characters making increasingly desperate decisions as things begin to fall apart.

And honestly, any horror film that gives us Tommy Wiseau talking about a possessed lake has already got my attention.

Silt is heading out on a theatrical roadshow tour across major US cities during October and November, ahead of its fall release.
