Uwe Boll is a fucking headcase. And I mean that in the most respectful way possible. Here is a man who doesn’t take any shit from anyone, will tear critics a fresh asshole if they so much as look at one of his films the wrong way, and believes that everything he makes is a work of art and if you don’t agree with him you can:
“… go to your mom and fuck her …because she cooks for you now since 30 years ..so she deserves it”
With that sort of single bloody mindness it should come as no surprise that when it was announced that Paul W.S. Anderson was remaking The House of the Dead, Uwe Boll said : “Bollocks to that” and launched an Indiegogo campaign for his own official unofficial sequel, 23 Years Later: Return to Zombie Island.
Why? Because he’s Uwe Fucking Boll, that’s why.
According to the campaign page:
“23 Years Later: Return to Zombie Island is the unofficial sequel to House of the Dead, directed by Uwe Boll. Twenty-three years later, the island is still sealed. This is not nostalgia. It is continuation. Built with real locations, real blood, and real consequences, the film returns to what horror is meant to do: confront, unsettle, and leave a mark. What was buried did not stay buried. This project is being made now because the original never disappeared. For more than two decades, audiences have continued to watch it, discuss it, and ask for a true continuation that stays faithful to its spirit. Crowdfunding allows this sequel to remain independent and fan-driven, prioritizing practical effects, physical horror, and creative control without compromise. This campaign is about participation, and about bringing a cult legacy forward without losing what made it matter.”
Plus there’s this nice picture explaining everything:

As well as this video starring the man himself:
Love him or hate him – and I am firmly in the former camp – you know that if it gets made, 23 Years Later: Return to Zombie Island is gonna be a blast. Critics beware. Uwe Fucking Boll is back!
