Epic doom has never been about chasing trends, and Swedenโs Void Moon have spent more than a decade proving exactly that. The band return on August 28 with The Runes That Bind, a new three-track EP arriving through Obelisk Polaris Productions.
Founded by bassist Peter Svensson, Void Moon have built a steady presence within the epic doom underground through releases including On the Blackest of Nights, Deathwatch, The Autumn Throne, Waste of Mind and Dreams Inside the Sun. Last year also saw the band return to the stage at Doom over Vienna while welcoming guitarist Fredrik Theander as a permanent member.
The new EP explores themes of heritage, memory and humanityโs place within the cosmos. Opening track Orphans of the Sky draws inspiration from the classic science fiction novel of the same name, while the title track turns its attention to ancestry and tradition. Closing song Constellation reflects on the stars, history and those who came before us.
Constellation also features guest piano from Joakim Strandberg Nilsson of Dark Tranquillity.
