Finnish modern metal outfit Volucrine have unleashed their self-titled new single and music video, Volucrine. The track serves as the third glimpse into the bandโs upcoming fifth studio album, which is scheduled for release on September 25th, via Inverse Records. Landing exactly 15 years after the bandโs inception, the song acts as a thematically central pillar for the new record, exploring the difficult emotional aftermath of a long-term relationship.
Volucrine rejects the typical bitterness and resentment that often follow a breakup, focusing instead on personal growth and reclaiming sole dominion over oneโs own state of mind. Rather than wallowing in anger, the track delivers a message of empowerment and tangible hope. Mastermind Jupe Velin notes that the lyrics carry such a strong sense of identity that naming the song after the band itself felt like the only logical choice.
The single balances the bandโs signature technical riffing with a more straightforward, melodic approach that recalls their earliest material. Keeping the arrangement lean and direct, the song focuses on a driving, high-energy rocl vibe that maintains a steady momentum from start to finish. It serves as a revitalized statement of intent, effectively channeling the bandโs live energy ahead of their September album release.
