Manchester’s blackened crust-punk outfit Wolfbastard have taken an unexpected detour into the electronic underground, releasing a massive hardbass remix of their fan-favorite track Hail Satan Kurwa. Reimagined by occult techno project House of Verdelet, the track was released on July 15th via Apocalyptic Witchcraft.

The original song, a standout cut from the band’s album Satanic Scum Punks, is a characteristically filthy blend of black metal venom and D-beat punk. This new version drags that raw hostility directly onto a sweat-slicked dance floor, merging the band’s unhinged energy with pounding industrial beats, acid-soaked electronics, and high-BPM madness.

The crossover isn’t as much of a stretch as it might seem. The band members are vocal fans of electronic music, often blasting classic 90s dance and trance on the road, and even closing out their live sets with a cover of New Order’s Blue Monday.

“The original track is a homage to our Polish friends, done in our usual brutal punk/metal style,” explains bassist Si Fox. “We thought what better way to put a different spin on it than to do a hardbass remix. Conor from our label showed us some examples of Polski Hardbass and we knew it was going to be something mad… The energy between the genres is very similar, especially at live shows and festivals. It’s great to see people go from headbanging and mosh pits to dancing like maniacs in the space of a few seconds.”

The release is accompanied by a brilliant, tongue-in-cheek music video directed by Jack Maguire. Filmed in a gritty corner of East Birmingham during a heatwave, the video sees the band trading their leather and spikes for tracksuits, paying tribute to the classic, chaotic aesthetic of Eastern European hardbass videos and UK pirate radio culture.

“During our last collaboration, I came to realize the guys’ commitment to a good pisstake,” says director Jack Maguire. “Now with the Hail Satan Kurwa remix, we had an opportunity to have a laugh and pay homage to conventions seen in hardbass music. We referenced videos from XS Project, Goldie Lookin Chain, and Kurupt FM. We found a very suitable rough spot in East Birmingham to film in. From there, awesome stuff started to happen.”
